Reverse Osmosis

RO Anlæg

Reverse osmosis is a purification process where water passes through a semipermeable membrane.

Due to its extremely small pore size and special physico-chemical properties, the membrane allows only water molecules to pass through.

The RO system is not designed to solve all problems related to water treatment. For proper operation, it requires pre-processing.

    Before you start and use an RO plant, you must be aware of several things at the water:
  • Max. TDS 3,000-10,000 - depending on the plant
  • Max. 40º C water
  • Pressing 3 bar (2 bar can be used)
  • FE (Iron) content should be less than 0.1 mg / liter

What is TDS?

TDS - Total Disolved Solids or translated "total amount of dissolved substances" is an expression of what the water contains in addition to pure H2O. TDS measurement is a way to measure how clean the water is. TDS is accurately measured by and evaporating the water sample and then weighing the residue. But an easier way is to use a conductivity meter that converts to TDS in ppm (parts per million) or mg / L. TDS is used in conjunction with Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants and must be used to control the efficiency of the filter and when to replace it.

    Measurement Procedure:
  • Rinse the glass in osmosis water. Tap approx. 1 dl of water from the RO plant in a glass.
  • Lower TDS meters approx. 2 cm and wait 10 sec. until the measurement is stable. If necessary, bank TDS meter carefully against the glass side and loosen air bubbles that might be on the electrodes.
  • Read the TDS meter.
